Let go of anxiety: learning to trust and rest in God

Why is it important to talk about anxiety?

Anxiety is a reality that many women face frequently. That is why it is necessary to stop and understand what it is, how it manifests itself, and in what way we can handle it in a healthy way. Talking about anxiety is not a sign of weakness, but a necessary step to learn to live with greater peace and emotional balance.

What is anxiety?

Anxiety happens when we live mentally and emotionally in the future, carrying in the present the weight of something that has not yet happened and that, in many cases, will never happen. In that process we fill ourselves with fears and uncertainties, especially when we try to plan, control, or change situations that are beyond our reach.

Most of us have experienced this feeling at some point, and maybe you are experiencing it right now. Precisely for that reason it is so important to remember what the Lord teaches us in His Word: Do not be anxious about anything (Philippians 4:6).

La diferencia entre preocupación y ansiedad

Worries are part of daily life. Jesus Himself expressed it clearly: Each day has enough trouble of its own(Matthew 6:34). It is normal for concerns to arise in different circumstances, but the key is to learn to channel them correctly to prevent them from turning into anxiety.

Worry is usually momentary and temporary, while anxiety is persistent and constant. When anxiety comes, it wears you down emotionally and even affects the body, producing restlessness, a continuous sense of alertness, loss of control, and difficulty resting.

The root of the problem: lack of trust

Anxiety is not God’s desire for our lives. Many times it arises because our trust is not fully placed in Him. Instead of waiting and trusting in the Lord’s timing, we decide to take control on our own.

In those moments it is necessary to remember an essential truth:apart from me you can do nothing(John 15:5). It is time to turn our gaze back to the Lord, let go of what we cannot control, and recognize that if we say we believe in Him, we must also trust and wait without being anxious.

Fixing our gaze on Christ

It does not matter what situation you may be going through today, nor what may be producing in you anxiety or excessive worry. There is a firm truth in which you can rest: if you decide to fix your gaze on Christ, believe, trust, and wait, everything will be fine.

Just as the Lord reminds us in His Word: For I know the plans I have for youplans to prosper you and not to harm you (Jeremiah 29:11). That promise invites us to rest, to trust, and to live with the assurance that God is in control.

Conclusion

Anxiety does not have to rule your life. Learning to let go, trust, and wait on God is a process, but it is also a path to peace. Rest in His promises and remember that He cares for you in every stage of your life.
