An Urgent Call in the Times We Live In

A person looking out a window at a stormy sky while holding a Bible, representing finding peace in turbulent times.

Today we live in times that, without a doubt, can generate fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. All around us, we see how conflicts, instability, and various situations increase as if they were happening all at once, as though the world were under constant pressure. However, as children of God, this should not surprise us.

The Signs and Jesus' Instruction

In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus spoke clearly about the signs of His coming. He mentioned wars, rumors of wars, earthquakes, and different events that would mark the beginning of these times. But along with the warning, He also left us a clear instruction:

"See that you are not troubled" (Matthew 24:6).

This teaches us that, although the times may be difficult, we have not been called to live with fear, but with understanding and preparation.

How is our Heart?

Beyond what is happening in the outside world, there is a question we cannot ignore: How is our heart before God?. The Word warns us in the book of Luke: "Watch yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with the cares of this life".

It is possible to know what is happening, even to understand the times, and yet still have a heart that is distracted, burdened, or distant from God. Therefore, this is not just a time to observe what is happening outside, but to examine what is occurring within us. Often, without realizing it, the rhythm of life, responsibilities, and constant worries spiritually cool us down. We keep going, we do our activities, but we set aside what is most important: our relationship with God.

The Danger of Losing Your First Love

In the book of Revelation, the Lord speaks to a church that was doing many good things, but had a serious problem: they had left their first love. Revelation 2:4 says: "But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first".

This word confronts us deeply because it shows us that it is not just about what we do, but about the state of our heart. God does not look for perfection, but for a surrendered heart that is sincere and passionate for Him.

A Time to Return and Prepare

This is a time to return: return to intimacy with God, return to prayer, and return to a life that pleases Him. Scripture calls us to live in a different way, as First Peter says: "Be holy yourselves in all your conduct". It is not about religiosity, but about a life transformed by the presence of God.

Jesus was clear in the Gospel of Matthew about the importance of preparation: "Be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect". Being ready means living each day with an active spiritual awareness, in holiness, seeking God, doing His will, and consecrating ourselves to Him so that our faith remains firm.

Living in Peace, Not Fear

In the midst of all this, there is a truth we must embrace: let us not live under fear. Second Timothy reminds us that "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind". Furthermore, Jesus Himself left us a promise in the Gospel of John: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you... Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid".

Even though the world may be in uncertainty or chaos, we can live in peace because the Holy Spirit dwells in us and Christ has promised to be with us until the end.

The Final Call

Today's call is clear:

  • If you have moved away, return.

  • If you have grown cold, draw near again.

  • If you have neglected your relationship with God, this is the moment to take it up again.

And if you do not yet know Jesus, today is an opportunity to open your heart to Him and receive the promise of eternal life, because there is still grace and there is still time.

If today were the day of your meeting with God, how is your heart before Him?
