“But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
When God delays, He prepares. Today I want to talk to you about waiting, because God’s silence also shapes us.
The challenge of waiting in God’s timing
Waiting can be difficult. Our nature pushes us to want everything fast: immediate answers and visible solutions. It is hard for us to understand that God’s timing is perfect, especially when we do not understand what is happening. Even so, the Word reminds us that all things work together for good for those who love God, even in seasons of silence and waiting (Romans 8:28). And, honestly, as human beings, it is extremely difficult for us to wait.
Waiting as a school of dependence
We do not always know how to wait, but when we come to the Lord’s ways, that is precisely where He begins to teach us to depend completely on Him. That dependence means letting go of control, leaving behind our old nature of wanting to do everything our way, and learning to rest in God.
There will be moments when you will want to take control: to rush the process or force an answer from God. But that is where we must stop and trust. The Lord calls us to trust in Him with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding; rather, to acknowledge Him in all our ways. Walking with God means accepting that His time is perfect, even when it is not comfortable for us (Proverbs 3:5–6).
An active waiting: obedience, faith, and growth
Impatience is human, but trusting God is an act of faith and obedience. While we wait, God can guide us in many ways: through people, through confirmation in prayer, or even through a thought so clear that we know it is Him directing us to the next step. But while that answer comes, the question remains necessary: what are you going to do?
Our posture must be one of obedience and trust. Waiting on the LORD means strengthening ourselves and encouraging our heart without losing faith. God is at work, even when we do not see it.
This season of waiting is not passive; it is a time of spiritual growth. God is preparing you and equipping you for something new. It is a space where we strengthen our faith through prayer, the reading of the Word, and the development of the fruit of the Spirit—especially patience.
Waiting as a place of personal preparation
God’s processes are unique for each person. He works in an individual way in the life of every one of us. And it is precisely in these moments of waiting that He transforms, prepares, and equips.
Waiting becomes a place of preparation: an intimate space between you and God, where He is doing something new in you, so that through your transformation His name may be exalted and glorified.
Even when difficulties come, they are also part of God’s shaping. So do not force things; learn to wait patiently, trusting that each step is being guided by His hand.
God’s grace in the midst of weakness
As His Word says: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) Waiting is not wasted time; it is formation. God is working in you. And while you wait, when the time comes, you will understand how valuable it was to wait and trust.
A necessary question for the heart
If today you find yourself in a season of waiting, it is worth asking: What are you going to do while you wait? Will you choose to believe, trust, and obey the Lord even when you do not have every answer, or will you try to get ahead and do things your way?
Remember: God’s plan is perfect, and remaining in it will always be the safest place. Even in waiting, God is at work. Trust, obey, and rest in His timing. Decide today to trust Him.
